How Can I Get Involved & Help with MESA?
- Career Conversations:
- The volunteer discusses his/her career, the academic path followed, and why he/she chose his/her career.
- Topic-specific Presentations:
- If a volunteer has a passion/hobby that involves some aspect of science of math, engineering, or technology then why not share that with students?
- Demo or Hands-on Presentation:
- Grab students' attention with a science or math activity.
- Mentoring Activities:
- Help a budding scientist, tech buff, or mathematician on a project of common interest. This could include e-mentoring.
- Problem-based Science/Math Project:
- Get involved with a problem related to school or your community. Give students a taste of real-life problems.
- Tutoring:
- Help a student with math, science, or language arts.
- Adopt a MESA program:
- If you have time, volunteer to assist MESA advisors during their weekly MESA meetings or during a unit that is of particular interest to you.
- Financial Support:
- Provide funding for field trips, materials, supplies, and equipment, registration fees for contests and special programs.
