MESA students at Spangler Elementary shared their Square Foot Gardens "salsa" with guests from LiveWell Colorado after harvesting the ingredients from their garden.

The summer gardening project was sponsored by LiveWell Longmont, the St. Vrain School District, and St. Vrain MESA. Students learned gardening concepts from Marv Roper, SFG expert; Katie Colgan, gardening volunteer; Annie Sweeney, Growing Gardens; and their MESA advisors, Nina Amabile, Rachael Martell, Christina Smith, Megan Brookhart, and Stephanie Potter. The Square Foot Garden summer MESA program will serve as a model for future MESA programs. Watch for more gardens next summer!
